I'm an impressionist acrylic painter translating everyday images into a tapestry with textured brushstrokes. With acrylics, I can build up layers of rich, thick texture with the quick, expressive strokes that define my style. I want people to see my art not necessarily as the world is, but as a series of dazzling, momentary impressions.
For me, painting is about capturing a feeling rather than a photograph. Inspiration comes through what I observe in the world, and although I often form an image in my head from what I see, rarely does my final painting look the way I had conceived. My observations tend to be a flash of inspiration and are translated onto the canvas through intuitive brushwork.
I use a variety of tools including brushes and palette knives and oftentimes many layers of paint to create a distinctive impasto dimension that makes the color feel tactile and alive. Most of my paintings are on stretched canvas or canvas boards, although lately I’ve enjoyed painting on wood.
Enjoy exploring my collection, and please email me if you are interested in a particular painting or would like to discuss a commission.
